Lindsay Ward

General Manager of Merredin Energy Pty Ltd

Lindsay Ward is the General Manager of Merredin Energy as well as an Executive Director.

Lindsay is an experienced senior executive having worked in a broad range of industries over the past 25 years, including power generation, gas transmission, ports management, rail haulage, resources, mineral processing, transport and logistics at General Manager, CEO and MD level. In addition to his responsibilities as General Manger - Merredin Energy, Lindsay is also the Managing Director of Dart Mining, an ASX listed exploration company and manages other infrastructure assets for Palisade Investment Partners.

Previously, Lindsay was General Manager Patrick Ports and Pacific National Bulk Rail and had responsibility for 6 regional ports businesses as well as Pacific National's grain and industrial rail business in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. Prior to this Lindsay was the General Manger Production – Yallourn Energy with accountability for an integrated, base load 1450MW power station and brown coal mine that produced 22% of Victoria's power needs.

Lindsay holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Graduate Diploma of Business Management and is an experienced Director of both listed and unlisted companies in the Ports, Bulk Handling, Infrastructure and Resources industries


Shane Jones

Assistant General Manager and former Project Manager of Merredin Energy Pty Ltd

Shane Jones is Chief Commercial Officer of Enerdrill Pty Ltd and Assistant General Manager of Merredin Energy. Shane's former position was Project Manager at Merredin Energy with prime responsibility to deliver the 82MW Diesel Generator/Turbine Power Station.

Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Shane has over 10 years' experience in engineering projects in power generation and mining. Shane's early career developed in the United Kingdom, honing his skills as a Management Accountant for various organisations throughout London. On returning to Australia, he undertook a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic and Computer Systems at Swinburne University, completed with First Class Honours.

Following this, Shane relocated to New Zealand to assist in the design and installation of an LM6000 gas turbine generator unit at Mighty River Power's Southdown Power Plant in Penrose.

More recently, Shane has worked in Australia as a consultant with several mining companies including BHP and FMG. He helped deliver the FMG Cloudbreak mine on time and was the Lead Control System Engineer for the implementation of the Desands Plant.


Rod Jones

Non-Executive Director, CEO and Managing Director of Navitas Limited

Mr Jones is the Managing Director, and Executive Board Member of Navitas Limited, the largest listed entity in the education sector in Australia.

Mr Jones has 30 years experience in educational administration and has held a number of senior administrative positions within the Government and the private education sectors. His background covers both secondary and university education including being Deputy Director of the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre and the Secondary Education Authority in Western Australia.

Mr Jones has been involved in international education since 1987 and is recognized as one of the leaders in the successful establishment of the sector in Australia. He is one of the co-founders of Navitas Limited and has been instrumental in the expansion and development of Navitas colleges into most major cities in Australia as well as a number of locations overseas including US, UK, Canada, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Africa.

In 2007 Mr Jones received a Doctor of Education (honoris causa) awarded by Edith Cowan University in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of the international education sector both in Australia and overseas and was the 2008 Australian Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

He has a longstanding relationship with the John Curtin Gallery at Curtin University and has more recently become a supporter of the West Australian Ballet and the Art Gallery of WA.


Julian Widdup

Director, Investment Manager of Palisade Investment Partners


Julian has over 12 years asset consulting experience, having worked for seven years with Access Capital Advisers (including as Partner and Head of Investment Operations) and for five years with Towers Perrin.


Throughout Julian's asset consulting career, he has specialised in the management of unlisted investments for superannuation fund clients. In these roles, Julian was involved in sourcing transactions, investment due diligence, financial modelling, and negotiating and closing transactions. He was also responsible for the ongoing asset management for a broad range of infrastructure projects covering airports, toll roads, commercial car parks, marine ports, network assets, electricity assets and gas assets.

His prior experience also includes three years in the government sector, having worked with the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Insurance and Superannuation Commission (now APRA).

Julian is a qualified actuary and holds a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University.
